Emergency Child Care
Students will learn how to respond to airway, breathing, and circulatory emergencies in infants and children. They will learn how to recognize and respond to common childhood emergencies.
Learn How To Respond To Child Emergencies
Anyone who works with children or is around children on a regular basis should know how to respond to medical emergencies that children or infants may face. Knowing how to respond to these situations when they involve adults is not always very helpful when the victim is a child. First aid and CPR techniques for children have been modified to accommodate their smaller and more vulnerable physiques.

Why Take Emergency Child Care?
Medical emergencies involving children or infants may happen at any time. Because children are usually less careful than adults when it comes to putting things in their mouths, choking can be a hazard. Generally speaking, children are less aware of common dangers and it is possible for them to quickly get themselves into a medical emergency situation.
If you have young children at home, are a grandparent, babysitter, teacher, coach or anyone else who is frequently around children, knowing the proper steps to take in an emergency may help to prevent it from becoming worse. It may even save a life.
What to Expect During the Course
This course will consist of both theoretical (classroom) learning as well as hands-on practice of techniques that are covered. Students are therefore encouraged to wear comfortable clothing as they will be in and out of their seats to practice the techniques over the course of the day.
During the session, the following content will be covered:
Upon completion of the course, students will be expected to demonstrate the skills learned during the session as well as successfully complete a multiple choice exam (75% minimum necessary to pass). Certification in Emergency Child Care is valid for three years.
